Explanation (for Instructors)
This activity guides students in using generative AI tools to receive feedback on a resume entry they’ve created for their current internship. This activity guides students in using AI as a feedback tool, while also encouraging them to consider the affordances and constraints of AI programs.
In acknowledgement of the fact that some students may have ethical objections to AI, this assignment also provides an ethical alternative to the assignment.
Instructions (for Students)
AI-Generated Feedback on Resume Entry
Generative AI programs can be helpful for ATS optimization. Let’s practice using AI to improve your resume by seeing what feedback it would offer to your resume entry for your current internship that you just created.
(50 words minimum + 1 file upload) Once you’ve spent some time asking your preferred Generative AI app for feedback, upload a transcript of the chat here by selecting Insert, then Document, and finally Upload Document. Then, in the textbox, reflect on these questions:
- Which AI model did you use? What questions did you ask the AI model about your resume entry for the your current internship?
- What actionable feedback did you receive that you’d like to incorporate in revising your resume entry?
- What was challenging, problematic, concerning, or questionable about using AI in this way?
