Assignment Description
Purpose
College career service consultants and businesses agree that teamwork is one of the most essential skill sets for professionals. In this unit you will learn about and practice working and writing in teams. You will research a business’s practices and give a specific audience advice they can act on using your research and arguments. In doing so, you will learn how to efficiently gather usable information in a professional setting. You will write collaboratively. In doing so, you will gain a better understanding of your own writing practices and learn how to write with a unified voice and argument.
Deliverables
1. Team Job Description/Procedure Manual
You’ll begin this assignment by meeting your team and thinking about how your team works, and constructing a job description or procedure manual for being a good member of that team. We’ll use the knowledge you gained about yourself as a professional and a writer during the Onboarding Process and Bus File projects as a starting place, and add new ideas about collaboration, culture, and personalities to think about and write about teamwork.
2. Research Proposal
Prior to researching a company or organization, you’ll also write a research proposal that outlines the resources, audiences, problems, and solutions that will be a part of your analysis of one organization in the major document in this unit, the SWOT report. This research proposal will be written in the genre of an email.
3. SWOT Report
The centerpiece of this assignment is a SWOT report that describes one organization’s (S)trengths, (W)eaknesses, (O)pportunities, and (T)hreats, and give that organization advice. This report’s information and advice should be of an appropriate scale. The report should not be uneven in style or analytical approach. This
4. Team Work Evaluation Letter
To conclude the unit, you will compose a team work evaluation letter, written to your instructor, that evaluates the work you and your teammates did during this unit.
