Peer Voice Recording Activity

Description (for Instructors)

This activity asks students to record themselves reading their peer’s work. These recordings provide new a fun way for students to (literally) hear their work from a fresh perspective.

Instructions (for Students)

Slide 1

Take out your cellphones…

  • Go to the voice recorder app.
  • Record yourself reading your partner’s entries.

The Voice Memos app is located in the Utilities folder on the iPhone. You can also find it by searching “voice” at the bottom of the home screen.

When complete, email/send the voice recoding to your partner.

Slide 2

Actively listen to the recording…

  • Listen for hesitations.
  • Listen for changes in tone.
  • Listen for pauses.
  • Listen for consistency (or inconsistency) in style.
  • Use your Spidey sense to detect anything that stands out.
