Explanation (for Students)
At this point, you should have read the NYTIMES article on Red Lobster.
Now, as a team, you will answer the following questions. Keep in mind that it would help to use a shared file/document like Google docs or Microsoft Teams in order to fairly distribute the work. Track what you all contributed to this “low-stakes” assignment and consider how this week’s work might provide a sense of how the team might work together on the Team Charter for next week.
During today’s class, you can work on this assignment, talk about choosing a team manager, and begin to schedule your meetings for Project #3. If your team is not all present during today’s class, contact over email or go to our Team Questions Forum and send an inquiry to your team.
1. If you had a time-machine, at what point in the company’s timeline would you go back and fix the problem you see as a major turning point, leading to Red Lobster’s downfall? Use quotes from the article to help support your reasoning. One answer per team.
2. If you were an outside consultant for Red Lobster, what would you recommend to the company’s board of directors? Each individual team member should make one recommendation each.
3. What claims or analysis made in the NYTimes article do you question, disagree with, or want to investigate further? Use direct quotes to answer this question and then explain how you would go about looking for more information. One or more responses per team.
4. Provide a primary source on Red Lobster, chain restaurants, or related companies involved. Give the title, author, publishing date, link, journal, etc. You do not need to follow “proper” style and formatting (one source per team)
5. Provide another secondary source on Red Lobster, chain restaurants, or related companies involved. Give the title, author, publishing date, link, journal, etc. You do not need to follow “proper” style and formatting (one source per team)
